(Berlin, May 20, 2016) Together with the BigShoe initiative, WOM had extended invitations to the Salzufer for the unveiling of the new EM symbolic shoe and football talk.
Participants of the roundtable were Werner Gegenbauer (President of Hertha BSC), Dr. Igor Wetzel (CEO and founder of BigShoe e.V.), and Oliver Kupka (CFO WOM). The discussions were moderated by Roland Eitel, longtime media consultant Jogi Löw, Jürgen Klinsmann, and Mesut Özil. The selected group of guests from the fields of sports, politics and consulting physicians were able to find out what influence social media has in the area of football and how this can be used for charitable purposes.
At every major sporting event, BigShoe has a symbolic shoe prepared using the finest craftsmanship. Dr. Wetzel was particularly proud to present the new BigShoe for Euro 2016 during the evening.
Since 2014 WOM supports the aid project BigShoe e.V. from the Allgäu region and is sponsoring partner of the registered association. The BigShoe action has become an important part of the CSR concept of the company. Besides WOM, the football club Hertha BSC is also a longtime supporter of the initiative and handed over three signed Hertha jerseys which will be auctioned subsequently for the benefit of BigShoe.
The BigShoe initiative has it made possible for sick children in the area of major football events to receive urgent operations since 2006. Through sponsorships and generous donations over 1,200 children have been helped to date.
